Lessons in Lashes
At Glow For It, we love sharing our favourite lash tips and insights - because the more you know, the better you can care for your lashes and let them shine.
Your lashes go through a natural growth cycle made up of three phases: Anagen (active growth), Catagen (transition), and Telogen (resting). This cycle typically lasts around three to four months, and each stage plays an important role in keeping your lashes healthy and strong.
Understanding the Lash Growth Cycle
Most people have 150 - 200 lashes on their upper lids and 75 - 100 lashes on their lower lids. We naturally lose 1 - 5 lashes a day, but the good news is that this is all part of the natural lash cycle - and they keep growing back!
Anagen (Growth Phase)
This is the active growth stage where lashes get longer and fuller. It typically lasts between 30 and 45 days, and as new lashes emerge, older ones are gently pushed out.
Catagen (Transition Phase)
This short transitional phase occurs once active growth is complete, usually lasting 2-3 weeks. During this stage, lashes are no longer growing and the hair follicle begins to shrink.
Telogen (Resting Phase)
The final resting phase lasts around 100 days. During this time, the lash remains in place but isn't growing. Eventually, it will naturally shed to make way for a new lash to begin the cycle again.
